Ambassador Winpeg Moyo of Zimbabwe, who serves as her country's representative to Kenya, Uganda, and Somalia, has been named the new Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Nairobi Chapter. The announcement was made during a ceremony held at the Embassy of Angola in Kenya.

Ambassador Moyo succeeds Angola's former Ambassador to Kenya, Sianga Abilio.

In her address at the event, Ambassador Moyo emphasized the strength and unity of the SADC region in safeguarding its sovereignty.

"SADC member countries have demonstrated exceptional solidarity in defending each other against sanctions and garnering global support for our regional initiatives," she stated.

She expressed appreciation for SADCs role in advocating for the lifting of sanctions on Zimbabwe and stressed the regions dedication to addressing conflict hotspots.

"Through our collective efforts, we strive to restore peace in troubled areas and advance the vision of a united, prosperous, and resilient Southern Africa," she declared.

Ambassador Moyo also highlighted the importance of collaboration with other nations.

"The SADC Nairobi Chapter will continue to forge strong partnerships with the Government of Kenya, focusing on mutually beneficial programs and initiatives," she concluded.
