Tanzanias Professor Mohamed Yakub Janabi has been elected as the new Regional Director for Africa at the World Health Organization (WHO). This decision was made during a voting session of the WHO Regional Committee for Africa held in Geneva.
The announcement came from Dr. Louise Mapleh Kpoto, Liberias Minister of Health and Social Welfare, who chaired the session. She stated that the committee had adopted two resolutions, one of which nominated Prof. Janabi for the position, in accordance with the organization's constitutional guidelines.
