International Election Observation Missions Hold Pre-Election Debriefing Ahead of Botswanas General Elections
On October 29, 2024, prior to Botswanas General Elections, the Heads of the International Election Observation Missions convened for a pre-election debriefing and peer meeting. This gathering aimed to share insights on the pre-election phase, which included consultative engagements, campaign activities, and news monitoring.
The Missions comprised leaders from various organizations, including His Excellency Mizengo Kayanza Peter Pinda, former Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania and Head of the SADC Electoral Observation Mission; His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan, former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Head of the African Union Election Observation Mission; The Honourable Justice Jacob Mwambegele, Chairperson of the National Electoral Commission of the United Republic of Tanzania and Head of the Electoral Commissions Forum of SADC Countries Observation Mission; and Honourable Gideon Moi, former Senator in the Parliament of the Republic of Kenya and Head of the Commonwealth Expert Mission.
The primary objective of this gathering was to exchange significant insights and findings regarding the conduct and observations of the electoral cycle and processes leading up to the elections.
The International Observation Missions will present their Preliminary Statements on Botswanas General Elections on November 1, 2024, at Avani Hotel at 11:00 AM.
